Bubbles In Bloom

On shimmering water
With glassy reflection
Bubbles afloat
In fragile perfection

The bubbles will burst
Be suddenly gone
But now in full bloom
The rose will float on

This painting was a little out of the ordinary for me, and I enjoyed stretching my creativity to paint a scene that didn’t necessarily make sense in the normal context of the natural world.  When I started the painting I intended to paint only the bubbles, but as it progressed the scene was feeling empty.  It needed something else, and eventually the idea of adding roses came to mind.  I’m happy with how it turned out and it’s one of my personal favorites to date.
